Taught by Bobby Medina

Attention horn players…

This one-of-a-kind training experience will pull back the curtain and reveal seldom talked about brass playing secrets of the superstar pop horn sections.

Shortcut your journey and uncover the little known steps to improving your playing skills quickly.

This class is perfect for:

1) Comeback players who haven’t had a chance to play in a band since high school or college.

2) High school or college age music students who want to play commercial music instead of marching band, wind ensemble or standard big band repertoire.

3) Proficient horn players of all ages who are interested in learning popular music style and performing live with a pop band.

“If you’re a horn player and always wondered what it was like to play in a band then this class is for you!”

What is a commercial or pop music horn section?

Typically it’s a 3-6 member group that includes saxes, trumpets and trombones. From Sinatra to Soul and beyond, bands and artists have used horns to add punch to their hit songs. Tower of Power, Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire and Blood Sweat & Tears are just a few groups that have incorporated horns directly into their music.

Our fist class will cover R&B music and more…

In this class Bobby will dissect and analyze recordings to teach you the nuances and specialized techniques of pop horn playing. He will actually bring in some of the original charts from hit songs.

You’ll learn the horn lines to such great hits as…

  • Ain’t Too Proud To Beg
  • My Girl
  • Chain of Fools
  • Respect
  • Soul Man
  • Rescue Me
  • Uptight
  • Dancin’ In The Street
  • Mustang Sally…and others

Play in several RMI ensembles and players clubs including: R&B/Soul, Jazz, Rock, Funk and many more!
